We give back to the community in a number of ways, including sponsoring meetups and conferences, charitable giving, and volunteering.

    In 2021 we revivied our apprenticeship program, bringing three promising Junior-level developers up to the skill level needed for the kind of work we do.

    MicroGrants and Donations

    Our latest community program is the COVID SLAM; other programs from the recent past include $10k to Black-led organizations in 2020 and the Baltimore Women in Tech Micro Grant program which ran in 2017 and 2018.

    Volunteering

    SmartLogic team members contribute to a number of initiatives as volunteers, including co-organizing Baltimore Tracks, open source development, contributing to civic hack events like Hack Baltimore, and in-person volunteering at events like the Hour of Code.

    We attend, present at, and sponsor a number of national and regional tech events including ElixirConf, RESTFest, and ChainReact. Starting in June 2021, we're hosting the first ever Elixir Wizards |> Conference.

    We’ve been sponsoring meetups in Baltimore since 2010; we sponsored 73 events in 2018 alone.
