SmartLogic Introduces Baltimore Women in Tech Micro Grants Program

We’re excited to announce the Baltimore Women in Tech (BWiT) micro grant program, a new program organized by SmartLogic aimed at supporting gender diversity and empowering women within the Baltimore tech community.

We’re giving away $5,000 in micro grants to help get creative & grassroots ideas off the ground. Our hope is that a small amount of funding can be the catalyst for converting ideas into action. We also hope to bring the community together to generate new ideas and new connections.

The criteria are simple: projects must be organized by women and must empower women within the Baltimore tech community. Some project ideas:

  1. A women-centered hackathon
  2. A workshop or conference bringing in one or more female leaders in technology as speakers
  3. A beginner’s guide to the Baltimore tech community and first steps to take if you want to get involved
  4. A Baltimore women in tech side project showcase / networking event to meet people who might be interested in partnering on projects

You are welcome and encouraged to submit as many project ideas as you would like as long as they meet the guidelines that are laid out in the terms and conditions. Also note that the total budget for your project can exceed what SmartLogic awards you; we don’t have to be the only money in on your project.

Are you ready to apply? If so, check out the application form. We have tried to make the application process as simple as possible; it should take under 30 minutes to complete. Just make sure that your application is in by the April 21, 2017 deadline!

Chelsea and Paige from SmartLogic will be hosting virtual information sessions on March 13, 2017 and April 4, 2017 at 6:30pm.

For any questions, feel free to check out the FAQs on the BWiT website or go straight to the source by emailing Chelsea at chelsea@smartlogic.io.
