SmartLogic Announces Baltimore Women in Tech (BWiT) Micro Grants Program

We are excited to announce the second Baltimore Women in Tech (BWiT) Micro Grant Program, a program organized by SmartLogic aimed at supporting gender diversity and empowering women within the Baltimore tech community.

We've partnered with Bold Yellow to give away $7,000 in micro grants to help launch creative, grassroots ideas. Our hope is that a small amount of funding can once again be the catalyst for converting ideas into action. We also hope to bring the community together to generate fresh ideas and new connections.

The criteria are simple: Projects must be organized by women (cis and trans) and must empower women within the Baltimore tech community. Check out the grant recipients from last year to get an idea of the types of projects that were funded last year. (Also check out BWiT coverage in Technical.ly Baltimore.) Of course, don't feel limited to these ideas! We welcome any idea that is affiliated with, or inspired by, tech. Some ideas include:

  1. A beginner's guide to the Baltimore tech community and first steps to take if you want to get involved
  2. A tech zine
  3. Baltimore women in tech side project showcase / networking event to meet people who might be interested in partnering on projects

You are welcome and encouraged to submit as many project ideas as you like as long as they meet the guidelines that are laid out in the terms and conditions. Also note that the total budget for your project can exceed what SmartLogic awards you; we don't have to be the only money in your project.

Ready to apply? Check out the application form. We have tried to make the application process as simple as possible; it should take 30 minutes or less to complete. Just make sure your application is in by the April 15, 2018 deadline!

Chelsea and Paige from SmartLogic will be hosting two information sessions before the application deadline. One of the session will be virtual while the other one will be in-person.

For any questions, feel free to check out the FAQ or email me directly at chelsea@smartlogic.io.
